Victory in Iowa good news for Illinois

Iowa’s Supreme Court Friday unanimously ruled in favor of same-sex marriage, a significant step forward for marriage equality in the Midwest that could impact Illinois. The Iowa Supreme Court upheld a 2007 district court ruling that declared the state’s same-sex marriage ban unconstitutional. The court declared that the ban “must be stricken from the statute, and the remaining statutory language must be interpreted and applied in a manner allowing gay and lesbian people full access to the institution of civil marriage.” Full Story / Comment
